Hey there! This is Ankur, and as promised, I’m being more regular with the AI newsletter now — 5 mins of reading every day, to help you stay ahead of the AI curve.

Before we begin, why don’t you tell me what ideal frequency you’d like for me to write you this newsletter?

Okay, today I’m going to talk about Claude Opus 4.6. If you don’t know what it is, just stay with me for the next 5 minutes, and you’ll know everything you need to know.

So what exactly is Claude Opus 4.6?

Claude Opus 4.6 is the latest model from Anthropic, which is said to be excellent for things like logical reasoning, coding and complex tasks. The internet is saying that it’s a huge development over existing models, and not just Claude’s earlier models, but ChatGPT, Perplexity and others too.

But what’s the big deal about it?

Like I said, it is way more efficient at handling complex tasks like coding, deep analysis of long documents, or tasks that require a lot more context/memory.

It has a token window of 1M tokens — almost as big as a whole book.

(Token window (aka context window) is the maximum amount of text an AI can "remember" and process at once, measured in tokens. It's like short-term memory—holds your prompt + chat history + its own thinking)

Where can (or should) it be used?

Okay, Opus 4.6 is not free. It’s actually quite expensive. Which is why, Claude Opus should primarily be used for complex tasks like:

  • Analysing long documents

  • Doing financial research

  • Reading/understanding legal documents

  • Coding

  • Anything that requires a lot of analysis and has a lot of data

Because ChatGPT (or other LLMs) don’t go into so much depth.

You don't need to be an engineer to talk AI. Subscribe to this newsletter — every other day, you'll understand AI well enough to be the smartest person in the room at work.

Each issue is just 5 minutes — less than the time you spend doomscrolling before bed. Except, this actually moves your career forward. Join 8,000+ subscribers now.

At the same time, please don’t use it for “Write me a LinkedIn post on XYZ” tasks. It’ll just be too expensive to use Claude Opus for this. It’s like hiring a 50 year old finance veteran to do bookkeeping. Or hiring an engineer with 20 years of experience to write a “hello world” program.

You get the point. Use it only for complex tasks. For everything else, there’s ChatGPT.

So how does it compare with other AI models?

If this article is adding value, do consider subscribing so that you keep receiving this newsletter regularly. It’s free, lasts 5 minutes, and keeps you ahead of the curve!

All AI models have their own speciality. While ChatGPT is more creative, Perplexity is more accurate, and Claude is more stable, the Opus 4.6 model is more deep when it comes to research.

I had written about the different models in the last edition of the newsletter. You can check it out here.

Here’s a brief comparison:

Before you go…

If you haven’t answered the earlier poll already, please tell me how many such newsletters you’d like to read. I intened to do 3 per week. Let me know if that frequency is good.

The idea is to spend 5 minutes understanding one new AI concept everyday, so that you can still talk (and use) AI, even as a non-tech employee.

That’s it for today folks!

If this added any value, feel free to subscribe! And please share it with a friend.
